Le tensioni si sono concentrate nel centro storico di Bologna, vicino a Piazza Maggiore. Dopo il corteo, una parte dei manifestanti ha continuato a protestare, clashing with the police forces deployed in the area. Objects were thrown at officers, and damage was reported in various parts of the city. Outdoor seating was overturned, shared bicycles were damaged, and at least one municipal vehicle was set on fire, necessitating the intervention of firefighters.
The firefighters also had to intervene in Via Monte Grappa, where a smoke bomb caused a fire in a courtyard. The community of Bologna was left in dismay by the images and testimonies of the night, still shaken by Fakir's death and the ongoing questions surrounding that tragedy. The emergency medical service assisted eleven people during the incidents, including both protesters and law enforcement officers. A police officer was taken to the Maggiore Hospital and a protester to the Sant'Orsola Hospital; both reportedly suffered minor injuries.
Police unions have described the situation as "organized urban guerrilla warfare," with about 60 officers involved. The Sap reported over 50 injuries, while the Coisp mentioned 56 injured police officers. For the unions, Fakir's death demands respect, rigor, truth, and justice, but responsibilities must be clarified in court. Meanwhile, the city remains torn between the right to demand answers and the emergency of violence that has overwhelmed the center of Bologna.
The controversy also concerns the management of the protest. Fsp, Sap, and Coisp have called for responsibility and caution in an already delicate phase, denouncing the use of stones, glass bottles, and firecrackers against officers. These serious accusations contribute to an increasingly tense atmosphere.
